Ottawa Higher Faculty ladies basketball mentor Matt Schurman thinks the players will turn it about.
The Cyclones (3-6) are mired in a 4-game dropping streak immediately after Wednesday’s 41-20 loss to Labette County in the Burlington Event.
“I have substantial perception in this workforce,” Schurman said. “They have each and every capability to rebound. We have to get in the gymnasium and boost our defense. We cannot continue on to give up threes.
“One of the fantastic points about this staff is we can have a night in which issues don’t go right, the up coming evening we have a [good game]. We will get back into the fitness center and work to get ourselves positioned.”
The Cyclones’ amount of participate in has dipped through the skid. Ottawa came out the getaway split with a win over Tonganoxie to extend their winning streak to three video games. Considering that then items have not absent nicely.
“Every calendar year, you have moments that are not pleasurable,” Schurman explained. ‘You search at KU versus Texas this 12 months. It happens to teams. My message is we are greater than we performed. We keep on to get stuck on things we just cannot control or improve at this position.”
The coach mentioned the gamers have the moxie to flip matters around.
“We are a staff with experience and will be capable to arrive back to do the matters we need to do,” Schurman explained. “These women are quite resilient. They never get much too superior or too low. Acquiring a match in finals week, it is a difficult week. We will get back to what we get pleasure in.”
Ottawa’s offense appeared out of sync from Labette County.
“Not significantly went correct,” Schurman mentioned. “The ball stuck a great deal extra. It was a domino influence. We skipped some layups and all of a sudden the jumper was not falling. Their force bothered us. We did not execute the way we needed to. Possessing some early foul difficulties was rough.”
Schurman reported coaching these girls is a joy and expects them to return to kind.
“I like this staff,” he stated. “They do a terrific task representing Ottawa as a neighborhood. They are a exciting group to be around. We will see if we can hit the ideal buttons to get us back into where we were being.”
