Police Investigating Split-ins at Arlington Forest Purchasing Center

Arlington County police are investigating a series of overnight split-ins at the Arlington Forest Buying Heart.

Thieves smashed windows and forced their way in to three businesses, stealing hard cash. One more enterprise was reportedly harmed but the burglars — or thief — did not get in.

“At about 7:33 a.m. on January 7, law enforcement had been dispatched to the late report of a breaking and getting into in the 4800 block of 1st Avenue N.,” Arlington County Police Division spokeswoman Ashley Savage tells ARLnow. “Upon arrival, it was established that unidentified suspect(s) pressured entry to 3 enterprises, triggering problems. The suspect(s) rummaged by way of goods and stole an undisclosed volume of money. Police continue being on scene investigating.”

ARLnow has received several ideas about the break-ins from outraged neighbors.

“The cleaners, Bricks Pizza, and Thai place had their entrance doors smashed and interiors ransacked,” claimed one. “Sense of Place’s doorway was destroyed but not ruined.”

“Significant injury to presently struggling regional enterprises thanks to Covid,” reported another neighbor. “The neighborhood is devastated and want answers.”

A GoFundMe site has been established up to support the business owners and, as of about 10:30 a.m., has already raised a lot more than $2,500.

“This is just rubbish — hurting literal mom and pop businesses who are so very good to us and our group,” the organizer of the campaign claimed in an e-mail to ARLnow. “The Bricks person presents my pet drinking water in the summertime. The cleaners are the kindest most hardworking people today. The coffee shop is a treasure. Crystal Thai has been my beloved Thai foodstuff for just about 30 decades.”

“All three corporations will will need new doorways to get up and running all over again ASAP,” the GoFundMe web page claims. “The whole volume donated will be break up similarly amongst the cleaners’, Bricks, and Crystal Thai. Be sure to give if you can.”
